Tourist police is a specialised unit of the nepal police,which was established in 1997 under the ministry of culture,tourism and civil aviation,tourism industry division.The main responsibility of tourist police is to look after the welfare of the tourist while they are in nepal.It’s job is to help and assist the tourists for their safety and security during their travel while staying in nepal.Tourist police is specially establish for to maintain the safe environment mainly in tourist area.
Some responsibilities of tourist police:

• To provide information on travel and security.
• To ensure a hassle free tour by keeping hawkers,beggars and street children away from tourists.
• To assist tourists whenever need arises.
• To register tourists complaints and help to find out the theft or loss of items.
  
• To provide safe environment mainly in tourist areas.
• To control illegal tourist guide.
• To provide information about tourism.
